Municipality of Topolovgrad welcomes children from Bolhrad within the initiative ‘Fun summer in Bulgaria’

The southeastern municipality of Topolovgrad in Bulgaria welcomed children from the municipality of Bolhrad in the Odessa region of Ukraine for the second year in a row. The visit was organized within the initiative Nice summer in Bulgaria, run by the Executive Agency for Bulgarians Abroad.

The Topolovgrad Municipality and the St. Cyril and Methodius-1894 Community Center welcomed ten children between the ages of 10 and 12 who were hosted by Bulgarian families.

Zhanna Suslina, head of the Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports Department of the Bolgrad Municipality, told BTA that the children from Bolhrad were placed with families in Topolovgrad, where they were warmly welcomed for a whole week. “Very interesting excursions were organized for our children, they were introduced to fragments of Bulgarian history and culture,” Suslina added.

On behalf of the Bolhrad Municipality and the children’s parents, Suslina thanked the initiators and organizers of this project, which gave the children of Bolgrad the opportunity to see Bulgaria and be beloved guests, especially in these difficult times for Ukraine.

“The cooperation between the municipalities of Topolovgrad and Bolhrad within the framework of the cultural initiative is of great importance and we hope that it will continue in the future,” Suslina added.
