Montco identifies human remains found in Towamencin

Human remains found in March in Towamencin Township belong to Isaías Hernández-Geronimo, a 34-year-old Towamencin resident who disappeared about two years ago.

“It’s an emotional time, that we were able to get closure for this deceased person and his family,” Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Janine Darby said Tuesday. “And unfortunately, we don’t really know how he passed away.”

Officials do not suspect foul play and have listed the cause of death as “undetermined.” Darby said the case is closed.

Investigators, including forensic specialists, used DNA evidence to identify the remains. Clothing, a backpack and a cell phone found near the skeletal remains also helped them identify Hernandez-Geronimo and contact his family members.
