LA Metro asks riders if Hollywood Bowl should get its own train station

LA Metro could add a station to the Hollywood Bowl if a proposed extension of the K Line goes ahead. The transit agency is now asking the public for input.

Construction on the $2.24 billion project isn’t scheduled to begin until 2041, but Metro recently released a draft report on the project’s environmental impacts. Riders and other interested parties are urged to review the report and submit comments by mail, phone, email or during a series of public hearings beginning Aug. 10.

The K Line Extension would connect the northern and southern areas of Los Angeles by running the K Line underground from the Metro E Line to neighborhoods spread across several parts of LA, including West Hollywood, Mid-City, Hollywood, Miracle Mile and West Adams. The northern extension of the K would connect Metro’s B, C, E and D lines.

The project would be funded with $2.24 billion from Measure M, which supports transportation improvements in Los Angeles County through a half-cent sales tax.

Between July 23 and September 5, anyone wishing to voice their opinion on the proposed project can email [email protected] or call 213-418-3093. The first public hearing, where people are also welcome to voice their opinions, will be held on August 10 at Susan Miller Dorsey Senior High, located in LA’s Crenshaw District at 3537 Farmdale Ave.

“It would fill a major gap in the Metro network and create opportunity by connecting the Crenshaw District, Mid-City, West Hollywood and Hollywood,” reads an online description from Metro.

Two more gatherings will be held later, including one on August 13 at Pan Pacific Park in the Fairfax District and another via Zoom on August 15. More information about those gatherings and other details can be found here.
